MCP Newsletter Aug. 21-25, 2017

August 25, 2017 - 3 Elul 5777

Dear MCP Parents,

This week at school, we had a blast learning all about treating each other with respect, doing good deeds, and following the rules.

The True Blue Twos helped decorate their classroom by creating lovely “Rules of the School” art. The art projects helped them learn their classroom rules, as well as how to treat each other nicely.

The Shining Stars created “good manners” handprint trees, and did a mitzvah book project, which illustrated the many wonderful good deeds & rules they learned about during this week.

In Middot Yoga, the Shining Stars learned about אומץ לב/Ometz Lev (having a courageous heart) and learned Lion pose (because nothing scares a courageous lion!). The children found Lion pose very funny, as they had to stick out their tongues and open their eyes really wide to do a silly “roaring” lion face.

In Hebrew Through Movement, the True Blue Twos and Shining Stars continued to learn new commands, while reviewing the commands they’ve already been mastering. They reviewed להרים (L’harim/lift) and להוריד (l’horeed/lower) with the parachute again (every single face was smiling!). They also reviewed the commands לקום (l’koom/stand), לשבת (l’shevet/sit), and ללכת (l’lechet /walk) with fun group games. We introduced two new words this week: לעצור (L’atzor/stop) and לקפוץ (leekfotz/hop). The children have been picking up the commands like second nature, and we are so proud of their astounding progress!

If you haven’t RSVPed for our amazingly fun Pre-Rosh Hashanah family apple-picking event, please do so by sending an email to roselyn.paskow@gmail.com. We are so looking forward to bonding more with our wonderful MCP families and getting into the Rosh Hashanah spirit as a community!

Additionally, if you have not registered for our $5 Fridays at MCP, but would like to, there is still time! We will be serving school-prepared $5 Friday lunches at MCP every Friday throughout the year. If you would like to make erev-Shabbat a little easier on yourself, request a form from the office (or via email-- mcpadina@gmail.com) and purchase these delicious lunches for your child! (Reminder: All school-prepared lunches are made from dairy and pareve OU-certified foods and include cholov Yisroel options. You can also request the menu to see what we serve.)

Thank you for another amazing week; we look forward to seeing your children again on Monday!

Shabbat Shalom,
