MCP Newsletter January 8-12, 2018

January 12, 2018 - 25 Tevet 5778

Dear MCP Parents,

We had another fantastic week at Morah Carol’s Place!

The True Blue Twos have been doing fun sensory art projects related to their Color of the Month: White. Check out their class bulletin board in our school hallway to see their adorable shaving cream snowmen! They have also begun to introduce the MCP Middah of the Month, Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World), with fun Tikkun Olam story books.

The Shining Stars have been learning many things in conjunction with our Middah of the Month, Tikkun Olam, as well. They began learning about Briyat Ha'Olam (Creation of the World) with Morah Carol in Tefillah for Parshat Beraishit. They are now learning more about it in more depth in class, as well. The Shining Stars are also learning all the days of the week in Hebrew. Briyat Ha'Olam will be an ongoing lesson this month.

Additionally, the Shining Stars learned about hibernation this week. They discussed what hibernation is, and did lots of fun art projects centered around bears, caves, and winter.

In morning Tefillah assembly with Morah Carol, our students have been learning about Tikkun Olam, which means repairing the world. In learning about this, they learned the story of the Days of Creation. Talking about the world being created puts more importance on taking care of it!

In Hebrew Through Movement, our students learned a new word--חלון-- and have been working on complex command sequences. For example, Morah Adina told them to do things such as “ לקפוץ אל חלון “ (Leekfotz el chalone/Hop to the window), and “ לגעת your nose and ללכת לעת around the room” (L’gaat your nose and lechet layat around the room/Touch your nose and walk slowly around the room).

Your children are doing beautifully with these complex commands; it’s incredible to see their minds put together everything they’ve learned--and it’s so natural and easy for them!

Reminder: There is no school on Monday, January 15th, in honor of MLK Day. School will resume on Tuesday, January 16th, at regular school hours.

Also, don’t forget to register for another amazing semester of Sports & Karate with Coach Mike, starting Monday, January 22nd (see flyer for more details)!

We look forward to seeing your lovely children next Tuesday!

Shabbat Shalom,

Morah Carol & Morah Adina
