MCP Newsletter September 4-8, 2017

September 8, 2017 - 17 Elul 5777

Dear MCP Parents,

This week at Morah Carol’s Place has been all about Rosh Hashanah! We’ve been practicing blowing the shofar everyday, making amazing art, talking about the symbolic Rosh Hashanah foods, and preparing ourselves for a wonderful new year.

The True Blue Twos have been making incredible Rosh Hashanah art and learning their Hebrew name letters. They’ve also been learning an awesome “Apple Rap” song--maybe they’ll be able to sing it for you at the Rosh Hashanah table this year!

The Shining Stars have been making all kinds of beautiful Rosh Hashanah artwork, using a variety of materials (which is great for their sensory learning)! They’ve also been talking about the sweet foods of Rosh Hashanah, and why we eat them. Check out the hallway bulletin board to see the sweet face of your Shining Star, on a “jar of honey!”

Middot Yoga resumed this week, and the children practiced Tree Pose: Earlier this month in yoga class, the children heard The Apple Tree’s Discovery by Penninah Schram and Rachayl Eckstein Davis. Since then, they have been learning and practicing our “apple-tree” yoga pose, in preparation for Rosh Hashanah. Hebrew Through Movement will resume next week, with many fun review activities for the words we’ve already learned: לקום (L’koom/stand up), לשבת (L’shevet/sit down), ללכת (L’lechet/walk), לעצור (L’atzor/stop), לקפוץ (Leekfotz/hop), להרים (L’harim/lift), and להוריד (L’horeed/lower). Your children have already learned so many Hebrew commands, and we are so proud of them!

We will also be having some fun Rosh Hashanah-themed specialty classes next week, so stay tuned!

Don’t forget to join us this Sunday (September 10th) for our family Pre-Rosh Hashanah Apple-picking Day! Families are welcome to meet us at MCP at 9:30 to caravan to BJ Reece Orchard, or meet us there at around 11. Bring a picnic lunch and prepare for fun! You can find more details (including details about pricing) on our website under "Events." If you have any questions, please feel free to call, email, or drop by the office to see us. We are so excited to spend our first family-fun outing with our incredible MCP families!

We look forward to seeing your adorable children again on Monday!

Shabbat Shalom,

Morah Carol & Morah Adina
