Dear MCP Parents,
This week at MCP, we’ve been learning all about the season of autumn (סתיו/stav) !
The True Blue Twos have been learning about autumn and the color brown. They’ve been doing fantastic fall leaf art, using a variety of art mediums including paint, markers, and glue. The True Blue Twos even got to use real leaves in their art! This has been great for their sensory learning.
The Shining Stars have also been learning about the season of autumn. They’ve been doing great sensory art, and using sensory materials such as sponges and paint, foam stickers (improving fine motor skills), and markers. For their science unit, they planted quinoa seeds and are observing the progress of plant growth. The Shining Stars talked about the anatomy of plants, and got to see posters illustrating each part of a plant, and each part of a seed. They’ve also continued working on learning the names and sounds of the English letters of the alphabet, as well as coming up with words that each letter starts with (which are written on the daily poster in their classroom). Currently, they are up to the letter T!
In morning Tefillah assembly with Morah Carol, our students have been learning about Parshat Vayeira. Morah Carol told them that Hashem gave Avraham the brocha (blessing) that his children would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and the grains of sand on the shore, and that we are those children of Avraham. They also heard the story of the three angels who came to visit Avraham and Sarah, and how the angels told Avraham that Sarah was going to have a baby. When Sarah heard, she laughed--so they named the baby Yitzchak. See how much your child remembers with these discussion questions:
How many angels came to Avraham? (Answer: 3)
Did they look like men? (Answer: Yes.)
What did they tell Sarah she was going to have? (Answer: A baby)
What did she do? (Answer: She laughed.)
What was the baby’s name? (Answer: Yitzchak)
This week, the True Blue Twos and Shining Stars enjoyed some calming yoga with Morah Adina. In hebrew Through Movement, they continued learning their new Hebrew command: לגעת (L’gaat/touch). They also continued practicing all their mastered commands with fun exercises and musical games.
We’d like to extend a special thanks to our amazing, generous donors this week: Benjamin Price’s grandparents, Gabriel and Nancy Bitton, and our supportive, caring anonymous donor. We are now in the possession of a fantastic new four-seat stroller for our infant class, and we have special sleeping cots on the way for our one year-olds! Thank you so much for your generosity, and for helping us give our students the best school equipment and environment possible.
Tzedakah is personal and never mandatory, but people frequently ask what they can do to help MCP. We are always in need of paper goods (paper towels, paper plates and bowls, plastic disposable silverware, plastic disposable cups, napkins, tissues, etc). These items, as well as monetary donations, are always helpful and welcomed!
In other news, we are excited to announce that we are starting a new class for our one year-olds, separate from the infant room! We are calling them our “Terrific Toddlers.” This transition will be completed by January. Though the school year hasn’t been long, we are so excited and thankful to be growing so quickly! Keep spreading the word!
Just a reminder: There will be no Karate & Sports with Coach Mike next week, on Monday, November 6, and Tuesday, November 7. Karate & Sports will resume on November 13 and November 14, respectively.
We look forward to seeing your beautiful children next Monday!
Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Carol & Morah Adina
